Maccaferri Futura finishes third in the CIC Normandy Channel Race: a podium secured in the final miles of the race
Luca Rosetti and Pierre Brasseur cross the finish line after 3 days, 3 hours, 1 minute and 22 seconds of sailing between the English Channel and the Celtic Sea
Three days of wind, shifting currents and open-water racing. Three days during which the outcome remained uncertain right up to the finish line. A podium place secured when every decision, every manoeuvre and every change in conditions could make the difference. Maccaferri Futura, the Class40 yacht of Officine Maccaferri, finished third in the 2026 CIC Normandy Channel Race after an intense battle in one of the most demanding offshore events on the international Class40 circuit.
The crew of offshore sailor Luca Rosetti and co-skipper Pierre Brasseur completed the course in 3 days, 3 hours, 1 minute and 22 seconds, in a race marked by demanding conditions, including strong winds, rough seas and constantly changing conditions. After a long and extremely fast downwind leg, Maccaferri Futura faced the final upwind stretch in highly variable weather, with the wind continuing to shift in both strength and direction during the closing stages, keeping the outcome uncertain right up to the finish line.
For Luca Rosetti, competing in the CIC Normandy Channel Race for the first time, the result carries particular significance: with his finish in Caen, he joins the select group of Italian sailors to have reached the podium in the historic Norman race.
Third place in the CIC Normandy Channel Race marks another important achievement for Maccaferri Futura, which, following its podium finish at the Spi Ouest-France Banque Populaire Grand Ouest, once again demonstrated its speed, reliability and ability to adapt even in the most challenging conditions.
The next challenge will be the Round Ireland Yacht Race, Ireland’s premier offshore sailing event. First held in 1980, the race will start from Wicklow on 20 June and cover a 704-nautical-mile course around the island of Ireland.
