大藤峡水利枢纽工程是国务院批准的珠江流域防洪控制性枢纽工程，建成将在珠江流域防洪、水资源配置、提高西江航运等级、保障澳门及珠江三角洲供水安全、水生态治理等方面发挥不可替代的作用。 武宣县城防护工程作为大藤峡水利枢纽工程的重要库区防护段，主要包括黔江左岸主城区堤防、七星河左右岸堤防、长寿村及长寿堤防等2级堤防，堤线总长约17459m。工程工期紧，生态需求高。
