Who: Global Engineers
In the 19th century, we invented Gabions and dramatically changed civil engineering’s landscape. We are still changing it today. We work everyday, with 140 years of our history, to find better solutions for our clients at every degree of latitude and longitude. We make innovation happen around the world, we share our knowledge capital to multiply the return on investment of clients and partners, and we offer ongoing support to establish relations built on solid trust. This is us: Maccaferri.
We are a global company, with more than 70 subsidiaries operating in 5 continents, with an on-site presence in more than 100 countries, and over 3000 employees: we are highly-specialized professionals trained in designing and developing complex solutions in the civil engineering, geotechnical and environmental construction markets. Our worldwide network grows through innovation and diversification of its sectors of activity and through an increasing range of high quality and environmentally-friendly products and applications.
We do not simply sell products: we strive to be the leading technical reference for designing and developing advanced projects. We are strongly committed to solving our clients’ problems by providing better solutions through attentive listening, innovation and collaboration.
To meet the challenges of the future, we have a very strong asset to rely on: 140 years of documented history, starting from Raffaele Maccaferri’s stroke of genius who in 1879 invented the modern Gabion, all the way to the current worldwide network operating in multiple markets. Today we are the undisputed leader in the manufacturing and supply of gabions and associated wire mesh products to the global construction industry.
Inspired by the ambition to solve even more complex problems, our expansion goes on: today we produce a wide range of geosynthetics including geogrids and geocomposites in numerous factories around the world. We are always striving for innovation. We keep searching for constant improvement. We are Maccaferri.
Maccaferri Gabions CIS, LLC has been operating in Russia and the CIS since 1994
In 25 years of successful business in Russia and CIS, more than 11,500 facilities have been built and renovated using our materials.
The company has 2 plants in Russia for manufacturing materials and structures from double twisted mesh and geosynthetics. Production of gabions was launched in 2000 at a plant in Dmitrov, Moscow Region (the plant was shut down in January 2013, and all production facilities were moved to Zaraisk). We opened a plant in Kurgan in June 2008, which allowed us to achieve the optimum price/quality ratio for our products. The ceremonial opening of the plant in Zaraisk, Moscow Region was held on October 24, 2012. The plant manufactures geosynthetic materials — MacMat® geomats and MacDrain® and TerraDrain® drainage geocomposites. Two production lines for MacWall® concrete blocks have been started up in Russia since 2008; and production of MacWall® blocks was launched in Kazakhstan and Ukraine in 2011. Our lineup of materials and technologies is constantly growing, along with development of new solutions designed to enhance the cost-effectiveness, technical efficiency and environmental friendliness of projects.
Our website gives detailed descriptions of the construction phases of various projects in Russia and the CIS where Maccaferri materials have been used. You can also find links to software for calculating the stability of gabion structures, along with technical documents and regulations.
The company’s design department has been operating since 2007, offering its services for developing design documentation in the following areas: road construction, water engineering, ecosystem restoration, site protection against flooding and geological hazards, and construction of single family housing.
The company’s employees are ready to provide full technical support, including design analysis and development, calculations using specialized software with Russian certificates of conformity, selection of materials and designer supervision.
