Carmen, Agusan del Norte, Active Rockfall Protection System

The municipality of Carmen in Mindanao is a popular tourist destination known for its natural beauty. Maccaferri's Active Rockfall Protection System ensures safety by mitigating soil erosion and falling boulders. Completed in February 2021, the project involved collaboration with local contractors and consultants.

The municipality of Carmen, in the province of Agusan del Norte in Mindanao, is a popular destination for tourists because of its numerous tourist attractions and friendly locals. Travelers are drawn to this place for its natural beauty and breathtaking views. However, certain road sections are prone to slope erosion and rockfall hazards.

One of the challenges that must be addressed is the elimination of surface erosion and the protection of the site against abrupt drawdown through the use of simple but effective solutions.

With over 60 years of experience in rockfall protection systems and natural hazard mitigation, Maccaferri ensures our solutions’ reliability, effectiveness, and sustainability. The installation of Maccaferri’s Active Rockfall Protection System mitigates the potential hazard of soil erosion and falling boulders, ensuring the safety and security of the infrastructure and the people.

Installing rockfall mitigation systems on steep rock slopes in remote areas can be challenging, which is why we make our systems simple to install, robust, and effective. Our solutions improve soil resistance to erosion by providing an environment conducive to vegetation growth. Furthermore, our solutions are tested and certified in accordance with the latest standards using state-of-the-art modelling software and techniques.

Angliongto Construction & Supply, the installer; Equi-Parco Construction Company, the general contractor; and the consultant, Department of Public Works & Highways, commenced work in April 2020 and completed the project in February 2021.
