Ensuring Reliable Power Supply: Rockfall Protection System in Pangasinan

However, in the challenging terrain of the mountainous region of Pangasinan, NGCP encountered a significant challenge that jeopardized the continuity of the power supply. The erosion of transmission tower foundations and the constant threat of rockfalls called for a robust solution to safeguard the reliability of electricity transmission in the area.

The Challenge

In Pangasinan, the foundation of NGCP’s transmission towers was eroding, exposing them to the risk of collapsing. This issue was exacerbated by the effects of climate change, making the safety and integrity of the transmission towers and associated infrastructure an ongoing concern. The danger of rockfalls posed not only a threat to the infrastructure but also to the continuous supply of electricity to the region’s households and businesses.
 

The Solution

To address this critical concern and ensure the safety and reliability of power transmission in the region, NGCP made a strategic decision. They opted to install the Maccaferri Rockfall Protection System—a state-of-the-art solution designed to mitigate the impact of rockfalls and landslides while preserving the integrity of the slope and vital infrastructure.
 
The Maccaferri Rockfall Protection System is a robust and dependable means of preventing falling rocks and soil collapses. By employing advanced engineering techniques, this system significantly reduces the risk of damage to transmission towers and associated infrastructure. Moreover, it enhances the safety of personnel and the public who live and work in the vicinity of these critical power structures.
 
Beyond safeguarding the transmission towers, Maccaferri’s Active Rockfall Protection system ensures the reliability of power supply to nearby provinces powered by these towers. This support plays a pivotal role in fostering economic growth and development in the region. During calamities or adverse weather conditions, the protection provided by this system becomes even more vital. It helps in maintaining essential services and enables rapid response and rescue operations, thereby ensuring the well-being and stability of the community.
