Officine Maccaferri strengthens its direct presence in Australia and New Zealand by opening a new subsidiary
Officine Maccaferri is strengthening its presence in Australia and New Zealand with a new subsidiary to directly serve the market and support the region’s sustainable infrastructure development.
Officine Maccaferri is reinforcing its direct presence in Australia and New Zealand with the establishment of a subsidiary. This strategic step marks a new chapter in the company’s commitment to the infrastructure development of the region and further strengthens its global presence, which today spans more than 130 countries with over 70 subsidiaries.
Maccaferri has been operating in Australia and New Zealand since the 1980s through various local business partnerships and joint ventures. After years of collaboration with local distributors, now the company will serve the market directly through its own distribution network and a dedicated technical team, ensuring faster project delivery, tailored expertise, and higher service quality.
The decision comes at a pivotal time for the region. Australia has earmarked more than AUD 120 billion (€74 billion) for infrastructure over the next decade, focusing on transport, energy and resilient urban development. In New Zealand, the government’s NZD 57 billion (€32 billion) National Infrastructure Pipeline is driving long-term investments in roads, rail and climate-resilient transport networks. In this expanding market, Maccaferri aims to reinforce its position as a trusted engineering partner. Its systems are designed to reduce carbon footprints, make efficient use of site-won materials and extend infrastructure lifespans, supporting both countries’ commitment to sustainable, climate-adaptive development.
With sales engineers and technical experts based in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and soon Perth, Maccaferri will ensure full national coverage and proximity to clients. Local stock hubs and customer service teams will enable rapid delivery and responsiveness, providing direct access to the company’s full comprehensive portfolio, from environmental and soil-preservation solutions to infrastructure and urban-resilience applications, as well as building and industrial performance enhancements. This broad suite of solutions supports projects across natural landscapes, urban developments, transportation corridors, and industrial settings, all reinforced by advanced smart systems for real-time monitoring, risk mitigation, and climate change adaptation.
Through this strengthened local presence, Maccaferri aims to consolidate its leadership in key market segments including retaining structures, erosion control, mining support, and tunnel reinforcement, helping build infrastructure that is safer, more efficient, and more sustainable.
“This step stems from being closer to our clients, not just physically, but in how we understand and support their work as a true one-stop shop” said Vikramjiet Roy, Head of ISEAP Region at Maccaferri. “With a local team and local stock, we can react faster, collaborate better, and ensure every project in the region benefits from Maccaferri’s global know-how.”
“Australia and New Zealand play a central role in Maccaferri’s growth plans for the SEAP region”, said Francesco Lipartiti, Regional Director SEAP at Maccaferri. “Strengthening our direct presence underscores our long-term commitment to these markets. This investment allows us to provide our clients with the full strength of Maccaferri’s global expertise and the capabilities of our multi-business global platform.”
Thomas Wintermahr, Managing Director at Maccaferri Australasia Pty Ltd, added: “With this new subsidiary, we are refining our approach to serving the Australian and New Zealand markets. It gives us the ability to engage earlier, understand project challenges more precisely, and deliver our solutions with greater agility. Our goal is to play a more active role in shaping resilient infrastructure across Australia and New Zealand, contributing to better outcomes for clients and communities.”
