Maccaferri’s Paramesh system implementation at Kaliapani mines, Odisha

Maccaferri Paramesh system was implemented to retain and stabilize the dump at Kaliapani chromite mines.

Balasore Alloys Limited faced operational challenges in extraction of chromite from the #Kaliapani mines, Odisha. The capacity of the plant is 1,60,000 MTPA. Waste generated was dumped on the slope and this over burden caused slope instability. Additional waste material required larger footprint which was not available and created operational difficulties along with safety hazards.

Maccaferri’s Paramesh system was installed to retain and stabilize the dump overloading. The major advantages of the reinforced soil wall solution are flexibility to accommodate the differential settlements, permeability of structure to manage drainage and is economical in comparison to conventional solution. The Paramesh wall system consists of Terramesh® & Green Terramesh fascia (with an integrated double twist mesh) and ParaLink® geogrid for soil reinforcement.

We offer solutions at each stage of a mine’s lifecycle, from access & material handling infrastructure, rockfall hazard mitigation, product concentration & leachate storage, to dewatering & site remediation.
