Tidal Bore is a phenomenon which occurs in the estuary zone near sea where the river mouth opening is funneled into shallow and narrow river sections. Budge Budge is one such location where it occurs.

Climate change is causing Himalayan glaciers to melt at an alarming rate, creating huge glacial lakes that could burst their banks and devastate mountain communities. Imja Tsho a glacial lake located at 5010m altitude was identified as potentially hazardous, and one of the six lakes in danger of bursting.
