A GE award won for the A72 widening at Dirtpot Corner in Scotland

Maccaferri and a team of brilliant companies have won the GE award for ‘UK Projects with a Geotechnical Value of under £500,000’.

We were delighted to have been shortlisted with Scottish Borders Council Contracts, Albion Drilling and MHB Consultants in the 2020 GE Awards from Ground Engineering Magazine but even more delighted that yesterday at the virtual awards ceremony we actually won! A good day for all.

The winning project featured an anchored hybrid reinforced soil structure supporting the A72 at Peebles in Scotland.
Technically challenging, the project required good collaboration within the team and then accurate construction programming of the specialist subcontractors on the constrained site.

Maccaferri’s construction division installed Terramesh and gabions. Client, Scottish Borders Council employed an Environmental Clerk of Works to ensure that the construction works had minimal impact on the River Tweed which flowed alongside the site.
The project also featured in Ground Engineering Magazine November 2019 edition.
