Watch nowWhenever construction is carried out upon soft or unstable ground, there is the possibility of settlement: this can include geological effects caused by subsidence, sink holes as well as man-made effects, such as mining voids. On the other hand, when overburden on native ground is largely increased, there is the issue of differential settlement or collapse. Within mining works, stockpiled materials or heap leach pads impose great surcharges upon the ground.

Watch nowOur expertise has been built up over 100 years of solving retaining structure problems and continuously innovating our offer of tested and certified solutions. In addition, partnering with leading institutions and professionals we endeavor to develop new design approaches and design tools to enhance the service life of our walls and soil reinforcement structures.
Watch nowDrainage Composites are made up by associating , during production, a draining core layer (it can be either a mat, a net or a moulded element) between two layers of geotextiles. The composite is capable of providing either filtering, separation and, sometimes, also other functions such as protection. Even with the multiple uses the main purpose is the drainage one, for this reason, the long term draining performances of the composite must be well known (compressive creep flowarate variations, filter efficency etc.).

Watch nowChallenges faced when modifying soil slopes. Modifying soil slope angles beyond their natural angle of friction can lead to slope instability. This situation can arise when cutting back slopes to install a new highway, or to gain development area on a sloping site. Improving soil performance with geogrid reinforcement.

Watch nowOver the last few decades, the world has been rapidly urbanizing. According to the United Nations, in 1950, only 30% of the world’s population lived in urban areas: now, that proportion grew to 55% and it is expected to reach 70% by 2050.
Watch nowWhen it comes to river works and coastal protection, the underwater implementation of solutions can be challenging. Our gabions and mattresses have proved to be excellent solutions: the idea to simplify their underwater installation while maintaining their efficacy led to the development of new solutions.
Watch nowSituations that require our cost-effective engineered solutions. Where only a narrow construction corridor is available, or a reinforced soil structure with a vertical face in urban areas is required, we offer clients our cost-effective engineered solutions.

The approach to watercourse management is increasingly considering social and environmental aspects along with the economic impacts of hydraulic structures. Watch nowSoil erosion becomes a serious issue not only for the physical removal of topsoil, but also from an environmental perspective. Deterioration of the topsoil can cause loss of biodiversity, flooding by poor water holding capacity and an unbalanced exchange of CO2 with the atmosphere. Vegetation plays a key role in soil erosion prevention, therefore its growth must be preserved.
Watch nowHELLOMAC is the brand new solution which provides our client with real-time connection to rockfall protection systems. It is an alert system for safeguarding lives, infrastructures and buildings protected by any kind of barriers, able to detect events (boulders, stresses, sagging, etc.) and sending real-time notifications via APP, email, SMS.

Watch nowDisaster risk is taking on new shapes and sizes. In order to face the increasing exposure to risks, we need safer and more robust solutions.
Watch nowWe have a long-standing experience in developing nature inclusive solution that prevent soil erosion while promoting vegetation growth. Our engineered solutions reduce the risk of damage to infrastructure lines due to superficial landslides and at the same time act as a first, natural like, protection barrier against slope instability phenomena. Furthermore, our solutions have been extensively used to mitigate the risk of soil slump in landfill capping and other applications in which a layer of soil is placed onto a surface with low friction angle.

Watch nowEvery week, hundreds of Maccaferri solutions are implemented across the globe, whether they are a small retaining wall in a housing development, or a massive, reinforced soil structure on a major highway or in a mine. Reduction on consumption of natural resources, savings on installation cost, maximization of worker safety, long-term durability and integration into the environment are key features of our retaining walls and soil reinforcement systems.
Watch nowOur experience in hydraulic works started in the 1890s: since then, we have been improving materials and solutions to meet the needs of a rapidly changing world. The increasingly exacerbating environmental conditions require the use of more advanced and durable materials. For this reason, we are continuously researching and developing solutions that can withstand chemical attacks and significant mechanical loads such as river sediment abrasion, such as PoliMac, the exclusive polymer coating for double twist steel wire solutions that can resist the most aggressive environmental conditions.
