The Challenge

In Bukidnon, sections of roadway were exposed to continuous erosion due to heavy and persistent rainfall. The weakening of the slope not only threatened the stability of the surrounding ground but also posed risks to road users and nearby infrastructure. Without proper intervention, ongoing soil loss and instability could lead to slope failure and long-term damage to the roadway.

The Solution

Maccaferri Philippines implemented a Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) wall system to reinforce the slope and protect the road. Using the Terramesh® system, combined with geogrids for soil reinforcement, MacDrain® for effective water management, and MacTex® for filtration and separation, the solution provided a well-integrated structure designed to withstand heavy rainfall and prevent further erosion. This engineered approach ensured both structural stability and efficient drainage, addressing the root causes of slope instability.

The Result

The completed solution transformed the erosion-prone slope into a stable and resilient structure capable of withstanding harsh weather conditions. By reinforcing the ground and improving drainage, the project enhanced road safety, reduced maintenance requirements, and ensured long-term performance, supporting reliable transport infrastructure in Bukidnon.
