The Challenge
The steep and unstable slopes in Consolacion, Cebu, posed a significant threat to nearby communities and ongoing development. Without intervention, the area risked landslides, erosion, and damage to surrounding infrastructure, making long-term safety and sustainable growth a major concern.
The Solution
To address this challenge, Maccaferri engineers developed a Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) Wall design tailored to the site’s conditions. The solution incorporated MacGrid® WG woven polyester geogrids for soil reinforcement and utilized a wrap-around construction technique combined with MacBag® Soil Bags to form the retaining structure. In addition, geocomposites were installed to manage pore water buildup and ensure stability.
