Innovating with Purpose: Maccaferri Philippines Attends the 31st Annual Mining Symposium & Exhibits in Davao City

Davao City, Philippines, June 3, 2025 — The Mindanao Association of Mining Engineers (MAEM) successfully hosted its 31st Annual Mining Symposium & Exhibits on June 3, 2025, in Davao City. The event brought together professionals from the mining industry, government agencies, and academic institutions to promote innovation, collaboration, and sustainability within the mining sector in Mindanao. With the support of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB), the symposium served as a platform for showcasing new technologies, sharing best practices, and strengthening partnerships for responsible mining.

Maccaferri Philippines at the Forefront

Maccaferri Philippines was proud to participate in this landmark event as an exhibitor. Our presence at the symposium focused on presenting advanced engineering solutions tailored for mining applications, including erosion control, slope stabilization, and geotechnical systems. Throughout the day, our team engaged with mining engineers, site managers, government representatives, and industry stakeholders to discuss how our products can support safer, more resilient, and environmentally conscious mining operations.

Showcasing Innovative Solutions

During the event, Maccaferri’s technical team showcased our flagship solutions, such as GabionMesh®, reinforced soil structures, and geosynthetic systems. These technologies are designed to address common challenges in mining areas, particularly in terms of slope stability, sediment control, and long-term land rehabilitation. The discussions highlighted how our systems are not only effective in providing structural support but also adaptable to the environmental conditions specific to Mindanao’s mining regions.

Empowering Innovation and Sustainability

Our participation in the 31st Annual Mining Symposium underscored Maccaferri’s ongoing commitment to innovation and sustainability. As a company, we aim to lead in delivering field-proven, high-performance solutions for infrastructure and environmental protection. We continue to advocate for environmentally integrated systems that combine engineered performance with ecological benefits, such as vegetated slope protection and bioengineering techniques. Moreover, we value collaboration with local stakeholders, seeing it as essential to implementing context-specific strategies that contribute to safer and more sustainable mining practices.

A Forward-Looking Mining Landscape

The symposium emphasized the mining industry’s shift toward integrated, responsible development. It reinforced the importance of aligning technical innovation with environmental accountability and community engagement. For Maccaferri Philippines, it was an opportunity to reinforce our role as a trusted partner for mining companies seeking long-term infrastructure solutions that meet both performance and environmental standards. The event also strengthened our relationships with key players in the sector and gave us a deeper understanding of the emerging needs and priorities across Mindanao’s mining landscape.

What’s Next for Maccaferri Philippines

Moving forward, Maccaferri Philippines is engaging in discussions with several symposium participants to explore potential collaborations, pilot applications, and tailored site interventions. We are also looking to support upcoming MAEM initiatives and contribute to further capacity-building through technical talks and knowledge-sharing activities. These efforts reflect our broader mission to engineer sustainable earthworks that protect communities, preserve the environment, and support the evolving demands of the Philippine mining industry.

We extend our appreciation to the Mindanao Association of Mining Engineers and the Mines and Geosciences Bureau for organizing such a successful and impactful event. Maccaferri Philippines is honored to be part of this milestone and looks forward to continuing its contribution to the advancement of responsible mining in the country.
