The Oxygen Park project in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, located at one of the city’s prominent urban locations, envisioned the creation of an urban green space that seamlessly integrates with nature while fostering a living structure. The project demanded a sustainable and aesthetically appealing retaining solution capable of complementing the surrounding landscape. Conventional structures had experienced challenges during heavy monsoon conditions due to flooding and drainage limitations, highlighting the importance of a resilient, self-draining, and long-term infrastructure solution.

To address these challenges, Maccaferri provided a sustainable solution using Strong Face Gabions and MacTex non-woven geotextile. The system was designed to create a self-draining and structurally stable retaining solution while enhancing the visual appeal of the project. Designed using Maccaferri’s in-house GAWAC software, the structures ensured optimized engineering performance and efficient structural design aligned with project requirements.

Compared to conventional retaining structures, the adopted solution delivered enhanced flexibility, faster construction, and superior performance under demanding monsoon conditions while supporting biodiversity and environmental sustainability. In addition to improving structural resilience and drainage efficiency, the solution contributed to creating an aesthetically pleasing landscape environment, demonstrating how engineering functionality and sustainability can effectively complement modern urban infrastructure development..
