Rockfall Mitigation at Talegaon, Maharashtra

Maccaferri’s rockfall mitigation measures were used at Industrial Park, Talegaon to address the slope instability challenges.

SteelGrid® with wire ropes in diagonal pattern, HEA panels, self-drilling anchors and drainage management solutions were installed to provide slope stability.

Maccaferri’s high-performance meshes were installed at @Talegaon Industrial Park, Maharashtra as a rockfall mitigation measure. The premises of the Industrial Parks span over 400 acres and the north-side slopes of Sector 4 of the park were highly prone to boulder slips and detachments. Major reasons for the slope instability were heavy rainfall, water infiltration, drainage issues and steep gradient which posed a constant threat to the safety of people and infrastructure.
Engineering investigations were conducted and Maccaferri’s secured drapery system was proposed. After removing loose scaling and deposited debris, SteelGrid®️ with wire ropes in diagonal pattern were installed on slope face along with surface nails using Self-Drilling Anchors (SDA) to provide surficial stability. HEA Panels were provided additionally where instability was expected locally from large boulders, as it provides higher energy absorbing capacity. Perforated PVC pipes wrapped with non-woven geotextile were installed on the slope face as subsurface drainage measure.
