Olney Park Development
Problem
Olney Park is a new and exciting mixed-use development comprising 11 acres with extensive frontage to Warrington Road (A509) on the northern edge of Olney. The site is regular in shape with the topography rising towards the north-west corner providing elevated and prominent plots.
Olney Park is part of ongoing phases of new developments in the town, which are all adding to the town’s attractiveness and critical mass. These include 350 new homes as well as a new McCarthy & Stone retirement development. Due to the sloping site, a large retaining wall was required to the Northwest to bring the levels down to a more desirable gradient.
Solution
The client was looking for a natural finish in a cut situation. Maccaferri’s Double-twist woven gabions provided an economically friendly solution to the change in levels. Maccaferri Construction completed the 100m long 4.7m max height wall to a high standard meeting all of the client’s budgetary and aesthetic requirements.
