RENOVATE OF WATER CANAL DR 2.8 AND DR 15.8

Problem

The water canal used for irrigation purpose at Paychumpol dictrict is shallow especially at the first section near the water gate which is connected to the main river Nan. To improve the capacity of the canal, RID has planned to renovate this canal using Gabions.

Solution

The first section of canal is connected to the big main river Nan, 1m thick Gabions have been chosen to protect the bed of canal from erosion, the width of the riverbed is 20m. For the sides slope (1V:1.5H) 0.5m thick Gabions have been used, before their installation reinforced concrete bracing every 2m have been utilized, the slope height is around 20m. This canal lining and protection is constructed at the front and at the back of the main water gate with total length equal to 250m. Zinc Gabions with size equal to 2x1x0.5m and 2x1x1 have been used. The productivity rate is equal to 25 m3 per man per day.
