Problem

Signs of slippage were noticed in the sloping land adjacent to the newly constructed Kimpo Apartments, with the possibility of a potential landslide endangering some of the buildings.

Solution

Gabion wall proposal forwarded by Achung Industry was accepted by the Clients. During the course of construction, the layout, which originally was a straight wall, was altered to include the oval shaped recreational area that incorporates two badminton courts, lending an aesthetic appearance. Cost effective – our designed solution was observed to be approximately half the cost of a concrete structure. Gabions are very effective as retaining structures, maximizing use of in situ filling materials thus economical. Its construction method is also simple and can be done even on rainy season. Further, it enables you to generate work among locals because skilled labor is not required to construct this type of wall.
