Problem
The site is at CCTEB India Private Limited premises, Khad City Rajgurunagar, Pune where a roadway has to be protected against anticipated rockfall from hill side. Slope surface is exposed and the rock mass having surficial instability of 1.5m-2m was also observed has been observed with little discolouration which indicates slight weathering of rock and discontinuous surface. Problem of rockfall is observed from top portion of the cut slope which was deemed dangerous and could pose danger to the people using the road. This necessitated the rockfall mitigation solution .
Solution
A rockfall mitigation solution involving secured drapery was installed to capture and contain rocks falling from the face. The close proximity of the roadway to slope meant that the mesh had to conform easily to the slope, which necessitated the requirement of a mesh that offers high strength at low strain. Maccaferri has supplied HEA Panel (Primary Mesh) for this project. DT mesh was used as secondary mesh here and the meshes are installed as the meshes of the drapery system along with surface anchors.
