Paramesh System From Maccaferri To Reduce Erosion Risk at Sadawarna Dam

The Sadawarna Dam, located in Subang and Sumedang Regencies, is capable of supporting food security and flood control in West Java Province. The Sadawarna Dam has a retention pond designed to reduce energy from runoff water flowing in the spillway and minimize the risk of dam erosion. The Retention Ponds need to be protected with retaining walls. To overcome these problems, Maccaferri Indonesia proposed using the Paramesh system.

The Sadawarna Dam, located in Subang and Sumedang Regencies, is capable of supporting food security and flood control in West Java Province. Inaugurated on December 27 2022 by President Joko Widodo, the Sadawarna Dam located in Subang and Sumedang Regencies can support food security and flood control in West Java Province. The dam, which has a length of 933 meters with an inundation area of 695 hectares and a water capacity of 70 million cubic meters, is capable of irrigating around 4,280 hectares of rice fields in Subang and Indramayu Regencies. 

The Sadawarna Dam has a retention pond designed to reduce energy from runoff water flowing in the spillway and minimize the risk of dam erosion. The Retention Ponds need to be protected with retaining walls. To overcome these problems, Maccaferri Indonesia proposed using the Paramesh System. 

The retaining wall structure for the retention pond at Sadawarna Dam was built using the Paramesh System with a height of 5m, consisting of the Terramesh system as facing and secondary reinforcement, which is then combined with Paragrid HF 150 – a geogrid with a tensile strength of 150 kN/m with a length of 3m – 5m as primary structural strengthening. Maccaferri Indonesia proposes to use PoliMac® coated wire for Terramesh Systems as protection against corrosion, abrasion, and resistance to exposure to UV rays. Using this material is proven to be more effective and efficient in terms of construction time and costs. 

All structural stability checks were performed using Maccaferri’s in-house developed software (MacStars). Furthermore, Maccaferri provides the client with a Product Assistant to ensure the Mandatory Standards of Procedure are followed.

Most of the materials from Maccaferri Indonesia are manufactured locally in Indonesia according to International and National Standardization and have TKDN certificates.
