Maccaferri Celebrates 130 Years of Gabion
This year Maccaferri celebrates the 130th anniversary of the first installation of gabions that have evolved over the years, responding to increasingly specific needs and designs that have evolved.

One of the projects that uses Maccaferri Gabions is Eiger Adventure Land, a tourist destination that offers an unforgettable nature adventure and outdoor activity experience in Indonesia.
However, Eiger Adventure Land not only presents exciting adventures but also faces quite significant natural challenges. Surface landslides and access roads that are cut off due to water overflow from the pool on the slope and high rainfall are the main problems.
To overcome this problem, Eiger Adventure entrusts Maccaferri with a solution using Hydraulic Structure – Drop Structure and Channeling, with a total handling height of 17 meters and a length of 9 meters. This solution was chosen because it can meet the needs in the field, especially in hard-to-reach locations. The ease of material installation supports the smooth implementation of the work. This structure functions as a retaining wall and channel to control water flow, using products such as gabions and Reno Mattress Plus. Gabions are wire structures filled with rocks to prevent erosion and stabilize slopes, while Reno Mattress Plus, which is similar to gabions but thinner, is used for basic channel protection and wider surfaces.
