Bank Protection At Drain Outlet, Singapore
Coastal Protection at Singapore's Integrated Train Testing Center with Innovative Erosion Control Solutions
The ITTC (Integrated Train Testing Center) in Singapore stands as one of Southeast Asia’s most significant and esteemed projects. Located along the coast, its civil construction falls under the jurisdiction of the Land Transport Authority. However, a challenge has emerged: a drainage outlet has been positioned to discharge into the sea, leading to turbulence in the water. This, coupled with wave impact, has resulted in erosion along the coastline. Without appropriate protective measures, this erosion poses a risk of bank failure and potential damage to the drainage network.
A pivotal aspect of this project was addressing underwater installation needs. With water levels consistently at a minimum of 1.5 to 2 meters and the bed submerged, a solution was imperative. Reno Mattress Plus emerged as the ideal choice, tailored for underwater applications. This innovative mattress unit features extended mesh on two sides, coupled with non-woven geotextile at the base. Additionally, the unit integrates lifting hooks with the mesh, facilitating convenient on-site handling without the need for special arrangements. The extended mesh design aids in unit alignment, mitigating erosion risks stemming from gaps between units. Approximately 1000 square meters of area along this stretch will benefit from this protective solution.
