On January 13th, 2017, Maccaferri Mexico hosted teams of firemen and paramedics from CLAMAPIQ, the Local Mutual Assistance Committee Querétaro Industrial Park; an industrial aid group that was created to provide support for internal security issues. It operates as a non-profit civil association and involves the 141 companies housed within the industrial complex.
Maccaferri considers the health and safety of all its employees and the prevention of incidents of prime importance. It is the company’s objective to take a proactive, progressive role in accident prevention and to this end Mexico’s General Director, Fernando Perez, requested an increase in the frequency of safety training sessions at the Mexican plant.
The training sessions are coordinated by Adrian Aguillon, Maccaferri’s Quality, Hygiene and Incident Command Representative with support from the internal brigade team:
- Reynaldo Aguillon, First Aid Chief
- Baltazar Cruz, Firefighting Chief
- Jaime Aguillon, Brigade Search and Rescue Chief
- Marco Antonio Alcaya, Evacuation Chief
The training was conducted by Fire Marshal at Querétaro’s industrial park, Mario Ortiz Pizaña, and his brigade team.
Together with the Incident Command Representative, the two brigades created a work plan to prevent future emergencies in the area.
Maccaferri’s brigade team received training on fire and chemical fire management, the use of fire equipment including fire truck handling and uniforms, as well as first aid. As part of the training, Maccaferri’s team was instructed on the procedures to coordinate actions with the Querétaro’s Industrial Park in case of emergency. A safety exercise on the correct behavior in case of emergency was also conducted.
Emergency drills will be carried out three times a year, one with Civil Protection validity and two more in conjunction with the CLAMAPIQ team.
Maccaferri Mexico complies with safety regulations and reminds all its employees that they should take personal responsibility in meeting security procedures for their own safety and the safety of their co-workers.
