Our MacTubes® help safeguard the riverside communities living in the largest city of the Mexican state of Tabsco
Resistant to biological degradation and UV rays, this solution was perfect to protect the Grijalva River and nearby buildings in Villahermosa, Tabasco, from erosion
The city of Villahermosa, Tabasco is affected by strong erosion along the Grijalva river. The National Water Commission of Tabasco (CONAGUA) needed to protect several points along the banks of the river to safeguard the communities living there. Without protection, the slope would be gradually eroded until it becomes unstable.
CONAGUA developed projects for longitudinal protection with sand bags and we proposed a hydraulic solution with our MacTube® geocontainers.
Our MacTubes® are tubular geotextile containers made from woven polypropylene. They are highly durable because they are inert to biological degradation and resistant to chemical attack.
MacTubes® provided a cost-effective solution as they could be filled with sand on-site sand and then placed in the water by crane. For this project, we used 85 MacTubes® (6.8x7m).
