The 4th geotechnical workshop on ‘Operational Risk Management’ will take place in Hermosillo on September 8th, 2017
The 4th geotechnical workshop organized by GroundProbe, Maccaferri and SRK Consulting will take place on September 8th, 2017 at the Fiesta Americana Hotel in the city of Hermosillo, Sonora. The workshop addresses mine engineers and geologists working in the field of open pit mines.
GroundProbe is a global technology leader that provides advanced hardware and software solutions to the mining industry; SRK Consulting is an international consulting firm with proven experience in the mining sector; and Maccaferri is a worldwide renowned geotechnical and rockfall solutions provider. The engineering excellence of these three partners will join at the ‘Operational Risk Management’ workshop to increase open pit mines operation efficiency even in the case of risky conditions.
Through field experience and case histories, the workshop aims to outline general guidelines for the operational safety of open pit mines, addressing the correct use of geotechnical tools and protection products.
The lecturers will be:
- Fredy Henriquez, Principal Geotechnical Consultant, SRK Consulting, who will explain how to manage risk analysis and its application;
- Melissa Miuzzi, Rockfall Specialist, Maccaferri, who will focus on the use and correct design of rockfall drapery systems using high energy absorption meshes (RockMesh® and HEA panels);
- Robert Acedo from GroundProbe, who will explain their monitoring technology and its applications.
A correct risk management process is the basis for the operational efficiency of open pit mines, and must take safety into account. Monitoring and rockfall solutions cooperate to avoid accidents and injuries during mining operations. Rockfall drapery systems are the most cost-effective solutions for open pit mines, combining high resistance and low maintenance.
It is the fourth time that this event is held in Mexico and we are pleased to be part of it, for the strong impact it has on the mining sector.
