Problem

The connection road from Province of Riau to Jambi is a main road. Due to landslides affect the traffic condition on there. The soil type is a sandy loam which has characteristic easily saturated. This landslide occur during high rainfall. From site investigation data there is groundwater at 13 m depth. This requires proper method to solve the problem and remedial.

Solution

Maccaferri Terramesh System as a flexible structure able to provide the solution. Construction of a reinforced embankment with a gabion facing structures which are permeable so as to reduce the excess pore water pressure. Use of Mactex behind gabion as a filter, thus keeping the soil grains do not drift with the flow of water. The construction can be done without a lot of heavy equipment. The construction system can be applied as emergency and/or post-disaster, because the system is fast and easy construction.
