Sustainable Progress: Tackling Flooding and Erosion Along the Mekong River

A cutting-edge initiative to combat flooding and erosion while ensuring sustainable river management along the Mekong River in Vientiane, Laos.

The Dongbu-Kumho Joint Venture from South Korea spearheaded the Phase II construction of the Mekong River Integrated Management Project. This initiative aimed to establish sustainable river management solutions while mitigating the recurring issues of flooding and erosion along the Mekong River in Vientiane.

After rigorous product qualification, Maccaferri’s MacTex N60.2 was selected for this significant project. The polyester non-woven geotextile was chosen for its superior filtration capabilities and high permeability, which were critical to addressing the project’s challenges.

Maccaferri also provided expert installation guidance, tailored to the complex terrain of the existing embankments, ensuring the effective deployment of the geotextile solution.
