Strengthening Foundations: Sustainable Slope Protection for the New Istana Negara
Eco-Friendly Engineering Solutions for a National Landmark
The construction of the new Istana Negara (National Palace) at Jalan Duta required innovative slope stabilization and erosion control measures. The site, situated at the geological intersection of Granite, KL Limestone, and Kenny Hill formations, posed significant stability risks to exposed and engineered slopes due to its complex terrain.
To address these challenges, Steel Grid with MacMat combined with hydroseeding was implemented as an effective solution. This system not only enhanced slope stability but also aligned with the project’s green development goals. The carbon-sequestering structure integrates seamlessly into the environment, offering both functional and aesthetic benefits.
Approximately 2,500m² of SGHR30 with MacMat was installed, reinforced with soil nails, to stabilize the 25-meter-high slope, ensuring long-term durability and safety for this prestigious development.
This project highlights the power of sustainable engineering in overcoming complex geotechnical challenges while contributing to eco-friendly infrastructure development.
