Reinforced Soil Wall with Terramesh in Kota Belud, Sabah

Stream erosion caused by high turbulence along the riverbanks leads to slope failures, often referred to as washing away. Stabilization work needs to consider both hydraulic and geotechnical stability.

Terramesh was chosen as the preferred structure for retaining and erosion protection. Its design, including gabion facing, helps protect the area, especially downstream of road drainage. Terramesh’s versatility allows for the installation of three culverts without compromising wall stability.

Hydraulic and geotechnical stability were assessed using Maccaferri’s software, MacRa Studio and MacStar.
