Proof of Concept (POC) for HELLOMAC Geo & Clima Kit at SUKE Highway Rock Slope, Bukit Teratai
Demonstrating Intelligent Slope Monitoring for Enhanced Infrastructure Safety and Risk Management
Project Overview
A Proof of Concept (POC) was conducted for the HELLOMAC Geo Early Warning System integrated with the Clima Control Kit at a rock slope located along the SUKE Highway near Bukit Teratai (BTR2).
The selected slope experiences persistent seepage and continuously wet conditions, which may compromise long-term slope stability. The presence of geological discontinuities and potential rockfall mechanisms further increases the need for continuous monitoring and risk assessment. Traditional visual inspections are labor-intensive, time-consuming, and often insufficient for providing timely information, particularly in remote or heavily vegetated areas. Delayed identification of slope movement can lead to progressive deterioration and elevated risks to highway users. In addition, maintaining reliable monitoring and communication infrastructure in challenging environments presents ongoing operational challenges.
Solution
To address these concerns, Maccaferri Malaysia proposed the deployment of the HELLOMAC Geo Early Warning System together with the Clima Control Kit. The integrated solution delivers continuous monitoring of slope displacement and environmental conditions through a network of smart sensors, supported by IoT-based communication and cloud data management.
The system provides real-time data access and automated alerts via SMS, email, and optional siren activation, enabling rapid response to potential instability events. By reducing dependence on frequent manual inspections, the solution enhances operational efficiency while supporting proactive asset management through timely and reliable information.
Benefits
The HELLOMAC Geo & Clima solution offers several key advantages:
- Continuous real-time monitoring of slope movement and environmental parameters
- Early warning notifications through automated alerts
- Reduced reliance on manual inspections and site visits
- Improved decision-making through cloud-based data visualization and reporting
- Reliable communication capabilities for remote and challenging locations
- Scalable platform suitable for deployment across other high-risk slope assets
This Proof of Concept demonstrates the potential of intelligent monitoring technologies to strengthen slope risk management, improve public safety, and support the long-term resilience of critical highway infrastructure.
