Maccaferri Mineral Terramesh

Recently there was an event of landslide occur due to heavy downpour of rain at Port Dickson, Malaysia. Port Dickson or PD to locals, is a coastal town located in the Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. The slopes were temporarily stabilized by sheet piles and the authorities were looking for a more permanent solution to mitigate the failed slope. Maccaferri was asked to propose a solution that is able to meet the requirements of the authority and after through investigation it is believed that the Mineral Terramesh® application is found utmost suitable.

The Mineral Terramesh® is a unique and simple to install soil reinforcement system with a slopping rock face finish. It is being integrated with the soil nailing as part of a long-term engineering solution hence demonstrating its versatility with other systems and it is often referred to as “Shored MSE wall”. It is believed that one of the possible triggering factors during the landslide was the relatively high ground water within the soil mass. Mineral Terramesh® proposed together with the Polimac® coating is able to withstand the severe application conditions including highly aggressive environmental aspects. The inclined rock-filled facing wall provides modern and clean-faced aesthetic finish. It is suitable for residential area such as the one at site and this happens to be one of the first Shored MSE wall built in Malaysia. With the height of estimated 6 to 8 metres the Mineral Terramesh is a cost-effective solution and it can be used either alone or in conjunction with our ParaGrid® and ParaDrain® but for this case we only utilize the double twisted steel mesh as the soil reinforcement.
