Problem
A private Development at Tanjung Bungah, Pulau Pinang was facing a rockfall threat. The private bungalow is seated at the top of a rock slope at Puncak Bukit Mutiara and it requires rockfall mitigation to safeguard the condition of the rock slopes. Bukit Mutiara is surrounded by granitic rocks, therefore preliminary rockfall mitigation is a necessity before the high-end bungalow construction can take place.
Solution
Maccaferri supplied and aided by providing on site supervision on the installation of the High Energy Absorption (HEA) Panel on the necessity location of the slopes. Maccaferri HEA Panel was used as a strong netting covering a total of 105 metre square area of the protruded boulder to protect the road and building from rockfall hazards. Maccaferri HEA Panel has a very low strain and it is flexible allowing it to follow the protruded profile of the boulder integrated with rock bolts.
