Rockfall Risk Secured: Safer Highways Through Proven Protection
Engineered barrier systems protect motorists across Ninh Binh and Thanh Hoa, Vietnam
Along the Mai Son Highway QL45 in Ninh Binh and Thanh Hoa Provinces, Vietnam, several sections run adjacent to steep, weathered rock slopes prone to rockfall—especially during periods of intense rainfall. Ongoing deterioration, erosion, and unstable formations have led to frequent debris detachment, creating safety hazards and potential traffic disruptions.
To address this, the Maccaferri Rockfall Barrier System was implemented as a high-performance mitigation solution. Designed to absorb and dissipate impact energy, the system prevents falling rocks from reaching the roadway.
Comprising high-tensile steel mesh, robust support posts, and energy-absorbing components, the barriers are tailored to site-specific conditions and expected impact loads. Installed along critical downslope sections, they provide a reliable line of defense—enhancing safety and maintaining uninterrupted traffic flow.
