Reinforced Soil Walls and Slope Reinforcement in HUARAZ – ANCASH
Problem
The terrain had a steep slope towards the Santa River cliff and did not have an appropriate land surface for heavy transport accessibility for unloading products, making it unfeasible to construct the commercial warehouse on it. Therefore, the client needed to undertake a project involving a 19-meter retaining wall to have a larger construction area.
Solution
The major challenge was to propose a reinforced soil wall with a considerable height of 19 meters using the technical-economic competitiveness of the Terramesh® System as a replacement for the traditional reinforced concrete wall in constructing the warehouse platform. Several stability analyses of walls with different heights were conducted to ensure the stability of the wall under both static and pseudo-static conditions, yielding favorable safety factors.
