The winner will be awarded at the Latin American Hydraulics Congress in Buenos Aires. The contest is aimed at stimulating the development and improvement of techniques for the design and application of gabions in various projects
The city of Buenos Aires, Argentina, is set to host the XXVIII Edition of the Latin American Congress of Hydraulics between 18th and 21st of September, 2018. We will be awarding the winner of the Maccaferri Award on Hydraulics applied to gabions, whose prize will be travel expenses and accommodation for the congress. This is the third time that we will be sponsoring such events, calling for participation from the country’s leading universities.
We are partnering with the Latin American Regional Division of the International Association of Environmental Engineering and Research (LAS-IAHR) to host this year’s Latin American Congress of Hydraulics, which has been in existence for more than 50 years. This is an initiative of the nation’s secretariat of Water Resources and the National Institute of Water.
This year’s international event is aimed at bringing together researchers, designers and other experts in the field to exchange ideas and to also promote creative development for the rational use of water.
As with previous editions, the competition will be open to professionals and students who are interested in researching and submitting a paper on hydraulic works with the use of gabions.
One of the highlights of the event will be our presentation of an award to the winner of the competition.
Participants can choose from any of these seven thematic areas in preparing their paper presentation: fluid mechanics and fundamental hydraulics; surface and underground hydrology; river hydraulics; sea and estuary hydraulics; engineering and hydraulic infrastructures; water and environment; and water and the knowledge society.
Scheduling of participants is already in effect. Submission of paper abstracts is open until March 2nd. Deadline for accepting the complete paper is on May 25th. The winner of the contest will be announced on August 1st. To participate in the contest, fill the registration form on the congress website.
We look forward to your participation!
