Thanks to our support the project “Desafio dos Taludes” became the main event of this meeting
From April 03 to 06, the VII edition of the National Meeting for Civil Engineering (ENEC) was held in Rio de Janeiro (RJ). Every year, this event is held in different places around the country. Being a non-profit event with the objective of connecting congressmen from all regions of Brazil, the ENEC promoted an exchange of expertise and culture among Civil Engineering students and well-known professionals of the sector.
For the first time the National Meeting for Civil Engineering (ENEC) meeting has included the Latin American Congress of Civil Engineering Students (Latin American Congress of Civil Engineering Students (COLEIC) ries in Latin America. One of the highlights of this 2018 event was the “Desafio dos Taludes”, a competition created by the Tutorial Education Program of the Civil Engineering course at the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR) and carried out with the support of Maccaferri. The aim of this competition is to foster the interest of the students in the area of Geotechnics, through the practical application of concepts studied in the classroom.
In fact, on April 5, six teams participated in the contest. They had to carry out a geotechnical work, in a reduced model, simulating the construction of a real-scale reinforced soil wall. The construction process lasted two hours and the loading of the slopes extended for a further one hour and thirty minutes. The winners of the “Desafio dos Taludes” and those ones who participated in the other contests that were carried out during the meeting, were awarded at the closing ceremony.
