IX Geotechnical Engineering Seminar will bring together Engineering and Geology students and professionals
The University of Caxias do Sul (UCS) and the Brazilian Association of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ABMS) are co-organizing the IX Geotechnical Engineering Seminar (GEORS2017) to bring together students and professionals from the areas of Engineering and Geology. Maccaferri will be sponsoring the event at which we will present innovative solutions for geotechnical problems.
The IX Geotechnical Engineering Seminar (GEORS2017) will be hosted by the University of Caxias do Sul (UCS) from April 27th-28th. GEORS2017 is co-organized by UCS and the Brazilian Association of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ABMS). The event aims to bring together students and professionals from the areas of Engineering and Geology. GEORS’ last edition took place in 2015, at the Civil Engineering post-graduate Dept. of the University of Vale do Rio dos Sinos, in the city of São Leopoldo.
The organizers aim to foster and promote the exchange of research activities and technological innovation among Brazilian universities, research centers and companies operating in the areas of geotechnical engineering, road pavement and environmental solutions. GEORS2017 favours the debate on these themes, focusing the students’ attention on these important geotechnical areas.
Expertise in these disciplines and the new techniques available within ths industry can have a positive impact on the development of the country. Knowledge can help to use scarce materials in better ways, make structures last longer, accommodate higher loads and be better for the environment.
At GEORS2017, we will present the following solutions: gabions, Terramesh system, MacGrid for soil reinforcement and erosion control, SteelGrid for rockfall protection and the drainage geocomposite MacDrain.
Maccaferri’s support to GEORS2017 is not accidental. Back in the 1990’s, our engineer Lavoisier Machado started a program of visits to Brazilian engineering universities. In line with this philosophy, Maccaferri continues today to contribute to the training of civil engineering students.
