Maccaferri and CBMR worked together to launch a course on the stabilization and protection of rocky slopes
The course was taught by two instructors who tackled the characterization of slope instability, flexible and rigid barriers dimensioning.
Maccaferri and the Brazilian Rock Mechanics Committee (CBMR) of the Brazilian Association of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ABMS) promoted and conducted the itinerant course “Stabilization and Rock Slope Protection System” in Recife, the capital of Pernambuco.
The activities were held in the auditorium of the Polytechnic School of Pernambuco (POLI / UPE), on November 29th. The Ph.D. Professor of UPE and president of ABMS – Núcleo NE Karina Dourado, led the opening ceremony of the course.
The content of the course was taught by two instructors. The professor doctor of COPPE UFRJ and former president of ABMS Nucleus Rio de Janeiro, Anna Laura Nunes, led on the characterization of slope instability, flexible and rigid barriers dimensioning. Maccaferri Brazil’s engineer, Matheus Garcia, held a presentation on rock slope protection, stabilization techniques and sizing of wire mesh.
The objective of the joint initiative between ABMS and Maccaferri is to disseminate issues related to rock mechanics, based on the company’s experience in the market, bringing industry and young professionals closer to CBMR.
