Maccaferri presents technical designs and geosynthetic solutions centering around the topic of retaining walls at the GeoAmericas 2016 Conference.
GeoAmericas 2016, the 3rd Pan-American Conference on Geosynthetics, had been years in the making. After successful iterations in Mexico (2008) and Peru (2012), the Americas-uniting geotechnical conference returned this year, welcoming participants from all spectrums.
To elaborate further, the third edition of the Pan American Conference on Geosynthetics, GeoAmericas 2016, took place in Miami, in the United States, from April 10th- 13th. The event addressed the application of geosynthetics, mining exploration, water and sanitation, roads, ports and railways, slope stability and reinforced structures, sustainability, tunnels, geosynthetic durability, waste management, testing, quality control and quality assurance (construction and manufacturing).

The Maccaferri team presented two facets at the GeoAmericas 2016. Firstly, at stand number 201, with the executive team, Maccaferri demonstrated the company’s solutions – especially geosynthetics – to visitors. Secondly, the team presented three technical designs, involving teams from Costa Rica, Peru, and Brazil.
- The Costa Rica presentation was lead by O. Bermúdez from Maccaferri de Centro América Ltda. – Costa Rica. The topic of discussion was slope stabilization and landslide treatment on roads and contingencies in Costa Rica.
- The Peru discussion was led by E. Anaias who tackled the topic of performance of 23m-high MSE wall with polyester geogrids and terramesh system facing through the monitoring of deformations.
- The Brazil team made up of C, Hamoni, J. Duran and P Santos Jr. presented reinforcement of soft soil with geogrids and columns of gravel for the construction of MSEW in a highway project.
The GeoAmericas 2016 program hosted in total more than 100 engineering and construction presentations, as well as an exhibition hall with specialists and suppliers of materials for the Americas.
