Maccaferri CentroAmerica will exhibit its tunnelling solutions at congress in Costa Rica
The industry of underground works in Costa Rica will be the topic of the first national congress dedicated to the theme. Promoted by the Costa Rican Association of Underground Works (ACROS) and the International Association of Tunnels (ITA-AITES), it will take place in San Jose on March 9th and 10th . The congress will include courses, lectures and presentations of success stories.
As underground works in Costa Rica need greater stimulus, ACROS and ITA- AITES have joined efforts to promote the first Costa Rican Congress of Underground Works (CCROS2017). This initiative aims to raise awareness of how underground works can boost the development of the country and improve the quality of life in large urban centres.
The congress programme includes six sessions: underground project funding; project evaluation; traditional excavation projects; Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) projects; micro-tunnels; wells and deep excavations. There will also be presentations of some of the success stories in underground works.
Maccaferri CentroAmerica will be supporting the event and reinforcing its position as a qualified supplier of solutions for underground works. At our booth, Maccaferri’s engineers will explain to visitors the specific technologies involved in tunnelling projects at every stage of the construction process.
The company portfolio includes:
- Portal works and support systems
- Ground reinforcement and consolidation of the excavated face
- Primary lining and drainage
- Final lining
It is important to highlight the unique, patented B.ZeroTondo Tunnel Support System. This unique patented system consists of tubular steel arches, filled with pumped concrete, and which offer significantly improved structural efficiency compared to traditional steel arch supports.
