Maccaferri has been nominated for the 15th time for the Milton Vargas Award. The event will take place on November the 24th 2016, and will bring together engineering and geotechnical professionals from all over Brazil.
Maccaferri received 15 nominations in the fifth and sixth edition of the Milton Vargas Award. Of the six anticipated categories, the company received recognition for their work in foundations, geosynthetics, professional of the year and innovation.
This year, the awards were presented on November 24, at the Auditorium of the Brazilian Association of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ABMS-SP), in São Paulo, bringing together engineering and geotechnical professionals.
1) The project awarded for the 5th category was “Use of geosynthetics in the reinforcement of landfills on soft soils based on the increment of undrained resistance” as described in the 48th edition of the magazine.The Author of the project was: Petrucio José dos Santos Junior-Technical Manager of Macacferri Latin America.
2) The project awarded for the 6th category was “Suspended Garden Drain Business Center” as described in the 65th Edition of the magazine. The Authors of the projects were: Camyla de Oliveira e Fernando Pereira – Engineers of Maccaferri Latin America.
Organized by the magazine Foundations and Geotechnical Works a monthly technical publication that provides information on soil mechanics (foundations, geotechnics, among others) since 2011, the Milton Vargas Award takes the name of the Brazilian engineer who stood out for his pioneering work in the area of soil mechanics, focusing on the study of tropical soils. He was the first president of the Brazilian Association of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ABMS), the Brazilian Association of Tunnels (CBT)
The Milton Vargas Award recognizes the best published technical papers and works described by the magazine throughout the year prior to publication, considering the characteristics of contribution to the advancement of engineering practice and innovation of the works.
