MALINAO-GENERAL LUNA ROAD SIARGAO ROCKFALL PROTECTION
Philippines
Siargao Island in the province of Surigao del Norte is known to be the Surfing Capital of the Philippines. Not just for surfers, Siargao's fascinating natural beauty captivates both local and foreign tourists. However, some areas are susceptible to landslides and other natural hazards due to the geologic setting and weather conditions. Certain sections of the road is confined by cut-slopes along its perimeter which is unprotected and presents the following risks: (1) erosion of soil – leading to slippery roads, (2) dislodgement of rocks leading to rockfall events, and (3) localized slope failure from surfacial instability. Even small rockfalls, or debris flows can block infrastructure and can have far-reaching economic effects beyond the immediate disruption.

MIXED RSS FOR THE RRESHEN-KALIMASH HIGHWAY
Albania
The 103 km long motorway is a key connection between Durres Port, Albania's primary harbour on the Adriatic Sea and Kosovo. Journey times of between six and ten hours will be reduced to two by this new road and the new route will serve to stimulate the economy in Albania's North Eastern region. Due to the mountainous topography of the area, many sections of the motorway run alternately through large steep embankment fill sections and slope cuts, with soil reinforcement, rock-fall protection, erosion control and revegetation measures required. The availability of large quantities of rock fills generated by the slope excavations made the choice of embankment fills a more cost effective alternative to the construction of viaducts. Of the 70 retaining walls required, those up to 15m high were constructed of concrete. However, the 30 walls over 15m high were designed as reinforced soil structures to re-use site won fill and reduce the visual impact.

RESTORATION OF THE ROAD LINK RR 128 AIN OCTOR - KORBOUS
Tunisia
Since 2001, the RR 128 road connecting Ain Octor to Korbous has been closed to traffic due to landslides, dismantling, rupture, and progressive collapse of the retaining walls meant to trap rocks. The landscaping for the Korbous road aims to restore its identity link with the region and articulate a better tourist approach to the area. The works aim to install protective devices against falling rocks. The road extends for 4. 5 kilometers, with the construction works covering 2. 5 kilometers from Ain Oktor to Korbous. These 2. 5 kilometers consist of a mountain road section (1. 4km: intervention area of France Maccaferri) and a dike where a portion of the maritime zone will be filled in to construct the road. The reopening of the road is scheduled for the third quarter of 2024.
