River training works: a new testing approach to simulate hydraulic conditions

Hydraulic structures operate in naturally aggressive environments, especially during flood events, when powerful currents and intense sediment transport generate significant mechanical stress. In these conditions, abrasion resistance is a key performance factor for gabions and Reno Mattresses: if the coating is worn away, the steel becomes exposed to corrosion, which can progressively weaken the structure and compromise its durability.

For this reason, we believe that these combined conditions should not be considered separately in laboratory evaluations. We therefore developed a new sequential testing approach, combining wet abrasion and salt spray tests to better replicate what happens in real hydraulic environments.

On March 26th, join our experts Gianluca and Stefano as they present the methodology behind this approach, share the results obtained, and explain why hydraulic protection can no longer rely on metallic coatings. Register now!
