WASSERBURG – NOISE BARRIER
Problem
A new residential area was planned in the municipality of Wasserburg, Bavaria, Germany. Laterally of the area run a road and a railway, that generate noise pollution. The designer needed a solution to reduce the acoustic effect of these infrastructures.
Solution
Maccaferri through his local partner BECO Bermüller proposed a noise barrier made of the modular elements Green Terramesh Duo. Different sectors had to be built but the typical section was 5 steps of 0,76m, at a total height of 3,80m. One of the reasons for the choice was the possibility to cover the visible surfaces with green natural vegetation, in order to integrate well the structures in the landscape. In the end, sound absorption measurements had been performed (detailed report following DIN – EN 1793) and the structure was classified A3/B3.
