MacArmour & SteelGrid
High-strength rockfall protection mesh
MacArmour
MacArmour is a 2-in-1 product that combines a homogeneous structure of bi-directional steel wire ropes with double twist wire mesh. The result is a unique product that has an excellent out-of-plane stiffness (punch resistance) and an outstanding tensile strength in the longitudinal and transversal directions.
Steelgrid HR
The Steelgrid HR System is an innovative complete system for rockfall mitigation and slope consolidation works. It is used as a drapery or as a high stiffness (low extension) bolted facing when anticipated loads exceed the capability of traditional DT Mesh. Maccaferri Steelgrid HR System combines a patented high strength steel wire mesh geocomposite which is used in conjunction with anchor plates, specific U-bolts and mesh connectors.

Al Otuan - Jazan
Saudi Arabia
Jazan City in Saudi Arabia is characterized by steep mountainous terrain, winding roads, and significant elevation changes. Due to the natural geology, fractured rock formations, and steep slopes, the area is highly susceptible to rockfall hazards, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall and temperature variations. These rockfalls pose a serious risk to public safety, road users, and nearby infrastructure, potentially causing traffic disruptions, property damage, and accidents. Existing protective measures are limited and do not provide adequate long-term mitigation against increasing rockfall events. Therefore, the authorities are seeking reliable, durable, and proven rockfall protection solutions that can be effectively installed in challenging mountainous conditions, minimize maintenance, and ensure long-term safety. Maccaferri’s engineered rockfall protection systems are considered a suitable solution to mitigate these risks while preserving the natural landscape.

CONTRACT FOR SHARJAH-FUJAIRAH PORTION OF ETIHAD RAIL
United Arab Emirates
Etihad Rail is the national railway network of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). From the border of Saudi Arabia to the border of Oman, this railway network will span 1200 km across the UAE. The UAE railway will connect all major import and export points, as well as trade, industry, manufacturing, production, logistics, and population centers. There have been two stages in the construction of Etihad Railway. Ruwais, Habshan, and Shah are connected by Stage One, which began operating in January 2016. This second stage has now been completed and extends from UAE-KSA border at Ghweifat to Abu Dhabi, KIZAD, Khalifa Port and Jebel Ali Port, Dubai, Sharjah, Ras al-Khaimah and then to Fujairah on the east coast of the UAE. Etihad Rail's connection to Fujairah passes partially through the Hajjar mountains, characterized by deep valleys, wadis, and high mountains. The railway works in this region required extensive mitigation solutions for problems such as scouring, erosion, soil retention and rock falling.

ÇÖPLER GOLD MINE ROCK FALL PROJECT
The Çöpler mine site is an open pit operation located 8 km away from Ilıc District of Erzincan City, approximately 550 km east of Ankara in Middle Anatolia with the capacity to process approximately 20,000 tonnes of oxide ore per day. During the extension of the waste storage area, rockfall from the rocky slopes next to the construction area forced the company to stop the construction temporarily in order to prevent damage on the membranes and to decrease the risk for the construction crew.
