Challenge

The road FV 103 is an important road for Statkraft AS and tourists. It runs through a very mountainous area with very high slopes. In winter, the only access road is in danger from icefall, and in summer rockfall events are a frequent problem.

Solution

Maccaferri provided a dynamic barrier with 3000 kJ of energy absorption capacity and 5m height. The line of installation was chosen directly above the road (in order to reduce transport costs) but moved a bit uphill to guarantee a free braking distance for the deformation of the system during an impact. The installation was done in 2 lines with a total length of 420m. - NEW RB 3000 WGC - without foundations! - 5 share posts with intermediate anchoring
