AHLA DEPONI RECYCLING CENTER

The application of geosynthetics was done in the final capping of the Ahla landfill project in the Laholm Municipality (Götaland region, Sweden). This is a project of great importance over the wider area of the Municipality, as the landfill is the final destination of the waste after collection. It was very important to rehabilitate the landfill after the waste disposal to avoid any danger of environmental pollution from the uncovered landfill. Maccaferri supported the local partner SVENSKA GEOTECH in this challenging project.

The final coverage of the Ahla landfill (stage 1/Etapp 1) was carried out with LLDPE. Therefore, a layer of Maccaferri´s drainage mat "MacDrain W 1041" was laid for gas drainage coming from the landfill core. An additional layer of MacDrain W 1071 has been laid over the landfill capping to drain the rainfalls. The choice of the right drainage products was possible through the support of Maccaferri´s experts, who carried out pre-checks with in-house software. The installation took place between March and September 2019. Quantities: 7.500 sqm of MacDrain W 1041 and 32.000 sqm of MacDrain W 1071
