Officine Maccaferri awarded a $25 million contract with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
The agreement involves the supply of advanced engineering solutions for flood management across the United States, supporting community safety and resilience, and climate risk mitigation
Officine Maccaferri is pleased to announce that, through its U.S. subsidiary Maccaferri Inc., it has signed a five-year framework agreement with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) with a maximum value of approximately 25 million dollars. The contract covers the protection of critical infrastructure and land against flooding, as well as the mitigation of hydrogeological risk.
The contract, awarded in the context of increasing frequency and intensity of extreme weather events, specifically concerns the EBS MAC system, a rapid deployment multi-cellular structure for use in emergency situations and developed from its long-standing expertise in double-twist wire mesh gabions. The system can be quickly filled on-site with locally available material to form an effective modular barrier. These solutions, which have already been successfully implemented in other regions, are increasingly emerging as key engineering tools for climate change adaptation, significantly contributing to the safety of vulnerable infrastructure and communities.
The contract also includes the provision of advanced on-site technical and engineering consulting services, with specialized teams supporting the installation and management of containment barriers. It builds on a decade of continuous product and service delivery to the U.S. Government, with over $45 million in similar EBS (Expeditionary Barrier System)products supplied to date.
This latest contract confirms Officine Maccaferri’s ability to deliver innovative, integrated engineering solutions that combine advanced technologies, rapid deployment, and operational reliability – effectively addressing the growing needs of public authorities in responding to climate-related emergencies.
