Gabions
Our Legacy in every twist
Born at the inception of our company, the Maccaferri Gabion is more than a product—it's a cornerstone of innovation. These Double-Twisted "DT" wire mesh containers transform into flexible, permeable structures like gravity walls, retaining walls and revetments, pivotal for modern geotechnical and erosion control projects.
PoliMac Coating: Engineering Resilience
Infused with our groundbreaking PoliMac® coating, our gabions defy the harshest elements. This coating enhances their durability against abrasion, chemicals, cold, and UV rays, ensuring they withstand time and nature alike. Also available is Bio PoliMac®, made from bio-naphtha derived from sustainable raw materials and originated from biobased feedstock , further emphasizing our commitment to environmental sustainability.
Optimizing with Maccaferri GAWAC 3.0
The future of structural integrity is here with our GAWAC 3.0 software. It uses the GSC concept to predict a century-spanning lifespan, marrying cost-effectiveness with robust environmental stewardship.
Sustainable Engineering
By integrating PoliMac with the GSC concept, we’re setting new standards in sustainability—reducing material use, slashing CO2 emissions by 40%, and fostering an environment where nature thrives alongside human ingenuity. Visit maccaferri.com/EPD to see how we're pioneering products that respect both the planet and our future. Embrace a design philosophy that's as economically savvy as it is environmentally sound.
Reduced Total Cost of Ownership
The strategic use of gabions results in a lower total cost of ownership by:
Reducing the amount of stone required, thus saving costs
Offering outstanding performance with PoliMac® coating, which minimizes maintenance needs
Facilitating faster and easier installation due to material reduction, thereby increasing production rates
Prioritizing the environment by cutting down on quarry stone extraction
Seamless Integration with BIM
Efficiency meets accuracy with our BIM-ready products, ensuring seamless integration into any project, enhancing collaboration, and cutting both costs and time significantly.

"THE FARM" AT SATICOY CHANNEL IMPROVEMENTS
United States
"The Farm" is a new master plan community on the east end of Ventura, California. It consists in a new townhouse development located in Saticoy, an unincorporated community in a rare, rural setting among fields of flowers and citrus orchards. The development extends between South Saticoy Ave. and Blackburn Road, and from Telegraph Road to Los Altos Street. Due to the new construction of the development, paved roads and urbanization of the area, a new drainage system was required to collect and control the waters during rains and flood events. The primary project challenge was finding a technically sound solution able to stand the water velocities into the channel preventing soils from been eroded, able to withstand potential differential settlements and trying to maintain a natural aesthetic look.

8TH. STREET EAST ROAD RECONSTRUCTION
Canada
The Town of Owen Sound was proposing to reconstruct an approximate 800 m section of 8th Street East, from 5th Avenue East to 9th Avenue East. The purpose of the reconstruction was to replace existing storm and sanitary sewers and watermain throughout the 800 m section road. On the north side of the road there was an aging limestone and mortar slope treatment along of the road embankment. The geotechnical investigation recommend to replace this slope treatment with a new retaining wall system. Due to the horizontal space available between the edge of the road and the property lines on top of the slope, a tie back system wasn’t an option because there wasn’t enough space to place the tie backs in the proper length. Also, the city was looking for a green face wall, they were trying to avoid a massive concrete/rock face wall. C. C. Tatham & Associates out of Collingwood, Ontario contacted Maccaferri Canada LTD to provide a proposal for the retaining wall required.

BARRAGEM CAMPEIRA - CRISTALÂNDIA
The Campeira Dam is responsible for supplying water to the city of Cristalândia (TO) for most of the year. A few years ago, after intense periods of rainfall, the dam's spillway, which was 7 metres wide, was not sufficient to release all the excess water from the reservoir, causing it to overflow and consequently the erosion of the shoulders and the dam's structure to be compromised.
