HAMILO COAST

Problem

Hamilo Coast boasts 5,800 hectares of green land, bordered by 32 kilometers of coastline situated in the northwest portion of Batangas, Philippines. It has 13 coves of white sand beaches and home to luxurious residential community. The construction of Pico de Loro Cove, one of the finest of the 13 coves, has started. Construction of the access road going to Pico de Loro required cutting of some portions of slopes. Erosion problem occurred when, after cutting slopes for the access roads, the lower and the upper cut slopes were then exposed to weather. The developer requested immediate solution to stop soil erosion, and it must also promote vegetation on the slopes to blend with the required green landscapes of the project.

Solution

Maccaferri engineers recommended MacMat R, a reinforced erosion control geoblanket. The erosion control solution does not only addresses the problem but it also promotes establishment of vegetation in the slopes. Besides being economical, MacMat R was installed swiftly. Drainage canals were incorporated to address surface runoff.
